Yarn Along – 3/9/16

March 9, 2016

Lots of little finishes since the last Yarn Along.

First up, my Tea Cozy.

Pattern is by Lily / Sugar ‘N Cream and is a free download. It is quite easy – just two rectangles sewn together. I also knit a coaster to go underneath for maximum insulation. It works great! Yarn is Paton’s Classic Wool in the discontinued colorway, 77435 Water Chestnut.

Next up I made a quick baby knit for a family baby shower. I did a little unisex cardigan.

Pattern is the Garter Yoke Baby Cardi by Jennifer Hoel. It is also a free download. I Used Berroco Vintage DK yarn in Cast Iron and Smoke.

I love the little stockinette angle made between the increases. I choice to make the increase a little neater – notes are on my Ravelry page if you are interested.

This was also an easy knit and I would recommend it if you have never knit a sweater before. If you know the gender of the baby it can easily be made more masculine or feminine with the buttons and color choices. I went gender neutral with black and gray. Mari had a great black sweater she wore the heck out of as a baby.

As for reading, I finished up a book last week, The Cruelest Month. It is #3 in the Inspector Gamache series by Louise Penny. I liked this one a lot. In it we finally find out about the mysterious, life-altering case that has plagued Gamasche for years. The author certainly teased us well with that storyline in the first two books.

I will be back to production knitting for the next month as I prepare for a spring craft show. Hopefully I can find a little time for some pleasure knitting as well and spinning on my newly acquired spinning wheel! Thank you tax refund!

I love your baby cardi! I really need to knit some tops for my little guy. I am such a delinquent mother in that regard. Thankfully, I have other talents that he will hopefully reflect back on later in life and find to be redeeming.

I’m sure he will! I didn’t even knit when my daughter was small so she didn’t get a darn thing!
