Yarn Along 8/5/15

August 5, 2015

We are back from a restful summer vacation up to Lake Erie. And boy did I get some knitting done! I was struggling for brain-space to focus on this pattern before we left. It was not going well. But one day in a peaceful cottage and I was back on track!

It has grown! I am getting a handle on the pattern and my speed is increasing. Just look at that texture!

The pattern is The Cathedral Shawl, by Marjorie Dussaud. The yarn is Knitpicks Hawthorne Kettle Dye in color Goddess.

I started a new book last night. It’s The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, by Mark Haddon. It’s a novel written in the voice of a 15-year-old boy with autism who decides he should investigate the death of a neighbor’s pet. So far I like it a lot! the character of Christopher is immediately engaging, and the author is amazing at explaining the workings of boy’s mind and his reliance on logic to navigate the world. I like the pace and the writing style. Very enjoyable so far.

Oh and we brought back the old vacation tradition of Neil giving us all temporary tattoos.

I am so fickle; I know I’d get tired of a real one and want to change it. This way I can have something different each time. Should last 2-3 weeks. Plus this is needle-free and pain-free! Always a bonus!

Hope you are getting in some restorative rest this summer!

That’s a book I’ve been meaning to read for a while – I have noted it! Love the shawl, great progress!
