Laura’s Blog Entry
Since I haven’t been in my kitchen this week, I don’t have anything to contribute to This Week In My Kitchen, but that’s OK. We were off on a family adventure!
Vacation for us is generally a quiet, slow, and restful time. We read, knit (me, anyway) nap, chat, and basically do very mellow things to recover from everyday busyness.
But not this year! We saved our pennies and took a special family trip to Florida. We visited with wonderful friends who moved from Cincinnati to the Orlando area, and also met a long-time online friend in person for the first time. We also did the touristy thing and hit several Orlando attractions.
Kennedy Space Center.
Walt Disney World
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios
And to make you all jealous, they took down the construction walls the day we were there and we got to see the new Diagon Alley section. It wasn’t open, but we got the first look!

Bravo, Universal. True excellence.
Yes, this was not our typical vacation! Because these were all things we were excited to do, we found the energy and powered through 3 – 4 miles a day of attractions!
We did have some down time. Lots of reading and knitting on the plane. Plus…
Poolside movie night.
Chilling in our funky retro hotel room.
Cocktails in the lounge.
It really was an amazing trip. Smooth travel. Good weather. Time with fantastic friends. And did I mention the frozen butterbeer?
It tastes just like you imagine it would.
We are feeling pretty grateful right now to have had this wonderful trip together. Time to curl up with a book and recover from all the fun…
