Men’s Ribbed Socks

January 29, 2014

Laura’s Blog Entry

It’s a frenzy of finishing! Neil’s socks, done. Quilt, done. Hats for Halos of Hope, done. Today I will share the socks I made for Neil.

I followed the same pattern that I used for him before, Regular Guy Toe Up Socks by Chuck Wright. (Ravelry Link)

The yarn is Malabrigo Sock in color 871 Playa. This yarn is so lovely. I’ve heard it doesn’t wear all that well, but I can’t resist the colors. I knit on size 0 needles. Cause I am crazy. Also, that’s what I need to get gauge. I splurged for my birthday and got a pair of Addi Turbo metal circulars in 0. I kept breaking and bending the wooden and bamboo double points I have been using. Using two circulars seems to speed up the knitting a bit. Must be the “turbo.”

I think I am totally over short row heels, though. I like the fit of a heel flap better. So now I have to figure out Neil’s measurements for a heel flap for his next pair. Always need to have some kind of challenge!

I really need to dig into my sock yarn left-overs and make myself some yoga socks. It’s too darn cold for barefoot yoga! Already cruising patterns in Ravelry… Time to do some casting on!
