So where were we? Ah yes. Time for construction! Take it away Jay and Neil!

Here’s the point where the back yard became a workshop. With makeshift sawhorses called garbage cans. ‘Cause we’re classy like that.

Oh look! Jay has put up the corner posts and has a faraway look in his eyes. Dreaming of another galaxy, perhaps? Any guesses on what it is?

Walls! It is finally time to figure this thing out!

Mari’s so excited she might need a doctor!

Does the paneling give it away? I hope you are Sci-Fi fans or I’ll be dropping hints all day and it won’t matter.

Ta Da! It’s a T.A.R.D.I.S!

If you have no idea what that is, here’s the short version. The TARDIS is the time machine used in the BBC television show Doctor Who.

Why in the world (or universe) would we build one in our backyard?

Number One: It’s an awesome idea! Wouldn’t everyone want one?

Number Two: We’ve become big fans of the show in the last couple of years.

Number Three: The Real Reason: Mari wasn’t too jazzed about moving. So to get her engaged in the process we said we’d have room to build her a TARDIS at the new house. Suddenly, she wasn’t quite as opposed to the idea.

The things we do for our kids! It’s actually been a nice way to meet new neighbors. Luckily those on both sides of us seem approving, which was a big relief.

So far she likes it!

Stay tuned next week for a detailed post from Neil about construction and photos of the finishing touches!

Brilliant! Are you getting a flashing blue light for the top too? Would be a good DJ booth for outdoor garden rave parties. Rock da house!

DJ booth! Perfect! It’s not a flashing light, but Neil hooked up some solar lighting! I think the Doctor would approve!

It doesn’t count unless it is bigger on the inside than the outside…
