Photo Walk – Over the Rhine
Laura’s Blog Entry
Ever step out of your comfort zone? We recently did and it was a great experience. As a family we participated in a photo walk in the downtown Cincinnati neighborhood of Over the Rhine. It was hosted via Google Plus. A photo walk brings photographers of all skill levels together to a preplanned location. Any kind of camera is welcome – from mobile phones up to high-end digitals. Then everyone shares their photos in a specific place. It’s fun to see what different things people found on the same walk.
Our friend Bryan set up the route, provided a map and even took a group photo! All we had to do is show up and not fight too much over the one good camera. Mari had the hand-me-down digital, so really it was just Neil and I duking it out over the Canon.
It didn’t come to blows, so that was good. We ended with a nice lunch at Mayberry’s. Darn good burger they got there!
Our city is pretty wonderful. Here’s my favorite shot of the day. The underside of a fire escape.
The School for Creative and Performing Arts. Note the unintentional flag reflection. Nice little surprise.
Really love this one, too. Playing with depth of field at the new Washington Park.
Old, disused rails in front of Music Hall.
Something about colorful doors on old brick buildings.
And wrought iron fences.
Pop of color through the alley.
I’d definitely do another photo walk. It’s a great way to try some new things with your camera and meet some new folks as well.
