Laura’s Blog Entry

Lately I have been doing equal parts number crunching and quiet reflection. Both activities require a soundtrack with very specific qualities. First of all, the music must have no lyrics. I can’t crunch or meditate with music that adds more chaos to my brain.

Second of all, it needs to be something mellow. Poppy, dance-y tunes are very disruptive because they often generate impromptu dance breaks. That plays havoc with my productivity.

Finally, as a bonus, if the music brings a sense of quiet and calm it’s a big win.

My soundtrack this week has been some lovely ambient music by the band Arcticology. If I remember correctly I found them through the most wonderful Warren Harrison of the band Hungry Lucy.

The band currently has five lovely albums, all as FREE DOWNLOADS, on their website. It was the perfect amount of music to accompany this months receipt data entry and statement reconciliation process. Not to mention the personal budget finagling.  (Only one “g” in “finagling.” Who knew?)

Pop on over to their site. If you like what you hear, consider giving them a little donation for all the electronic goodness.

Thanks for reminding me of Arcticology. I now have the day’s soundtrack chosen. Lovely, soothing stuff indeed.
