We Collect Enemies

March 10, 2010

Laura’s Blog Entry

Well, not me personally. We Collect Enemies is a new record label created by a cool and creative group of movers and shakers, Daryl Bamonte, Andrew Phillpott and Glen Brady. They “endeavour to program beats you aren’t able to and to release music and video by exciting farmers, worn out deejays, jaded programmers and swedish cheese enthusiasts.” Now that’s a mission statement if I’ve ever heard one.

The label is representing a band we enjoy, Das Shadow, who released a single last year. Well with new backing they are raring to go with the release of a new song called “Slew.” The single, which also includes some remixes by DJ Wool, Jaimie Fanatic and Tobias Enhus, will be available exclusively on Beatport on March 22. iTunes will not be far behind on April 5.

To give you a taste of their electro-goodness, here is the video for “Slew.” I don’t know about you, but I can really get behind a band that combines sci-fi gadgetry with a cute little bunny.

I really like the video. There’s sort of a Datarock-Daft Punk aesthetic there.
