Show Notes

Neil tries to honor the VJ’s of old, and we decide to boycott a holiday – cause some of them are just plain stupid. Our struggle with math pops up yet again, and we give some love to a new TV show. It ain’t Battlestar Galactica, but what is?  Mari shares the fruits of her Apple Camp experience. Fruits … get it? And we weigh in on some Depeche Mode documentaries as we prepare to see their Tour of the Universe. That’s right Martin Gore, we’re packing up our gothy boots and coming to see you! With tunes by Flunk, Venus Hum and Pat MacDonald.

Once again, Neil succeeds in making me crack up out loud while listening at work. His John Cusack comment still makes me snort laugh.

And Bailey Chase is so a gay porn name. Just sayin’.

Great music picks this month Laura. Love them!

    Happy August Smiths!

Aw, thanks Brian! Your comments are always so appreciated. Glad you like the show!

Another great show Smiths! Laura’s song was fabulous and I know what you mean about those cute shirts. It shows how in touch with his feminine side Neil is if he is happy to walk around with a shirt proclaiming “CAMP”. I do not share his taste in men though – Bailey Chase – no thanks, you can have him Neil.

The intro music for this show was gorgeous, what a talented and musical family you are. The video for The Sleep must have been very exciting and I look forward to seeing it.

Great to hear Venus Hum again, I am jealous that you had that sneaky glimpse of the new album, I am glad they are almost complete with the album, love their stuff very much. In fact, I may have found your podcast through their forum a loooong time ago.

Scrap all the stuff by The Sleep and release an album of amazing cover versions please, your Tears For Fears DM News jingle officially elevates you to the level of music gods! GENIUS-GENIUS-GENIUS! The DM documentary sounds really interesting but not sure about the comments about being inbred? If this makes Andy McCluskey and Thomas Dolby my uncles though, I am a happy, gay boy.

I guess that just leave more Bailey Chase for Neil! (I really should stop saying things like that.) So glad you liked the show, Andrew. Your comments always make my day. Now I feel really challenged to top the DM News jingle in Sept. Hmmm… I may just have an idea…

Oh, btw – here is a sneak peak for everyone of the Venus Hum album:

Every song is freaking fantastic. I’m pretty sure this one is going to propel them into the big time!

Oh very nice tasty morsels of music there. A return to form for the Hummers. Hurrah for proper pop!
