The Pea Pod Café

November 18, 2008

Laura’s Blog Entry

Melanie Moore has opened a new little vegetarian restaurant in Pleasant Ridge and I shamefully took way too long to get in and check it out.

It’s called The Pea Pod Café and it is a community oriented restaurant that offers organic and vegetarian foods like salads, wraps, soups, quiches and sweets; fair trade and organic whole leaf teas; organic raw fruit smoothies; art exhibits, live music, and community events.

Last week Neil and I had time to stop in for a nice lunch. We enjoyed some absolutely delicious soups – both the pumpkin carrot and the black bean. We also fell in love with the yummy smoothies, especially the seasonal apple cider one. Their menu varies depending on what foods are in season, and you can learn more about it on their website.

They recently kicked off a farmer’s market on Saturday mornings in their community room. We stopped by and got some organic (Andrew, cover your ears) meat and sausage. The farmer also had some fall vegetables, eggs, breads, jam, and he plans to bring his homemade ice cream to future dates.

Live music events happen regularly in the community room and I think it will be a hopping little destination for the neighborhood.

There are many tea selections that I am quite curious about. I’ll be popping back in to investigate those. And get more soup. Yummy, yummy soup! Best of luck to Melanie – go visit her and I promise you’ll feel healthier!

Yet another reason to visit Cincinnati! I’ve been eating more vegetarian meals and couldn’t be happier. We’ll get back to Cincy again someday, and this time we’ll get together with you. 🙂
