Show Notes
It’s November! But mercifully we’re not raking Thanksgiving over the coals again! There’s lots of new music this fall, and we’re personally delivering it to your iPod. First up are new tracks from Venus Hum and an interview with Tony Miracle about their album Mechanics & Mathematics. In What’s the Best Show on Television? we talk about our fascination with Project Runway. Mari brings a lovely seasonal tune, and just when you think you can’t take any more, we delve into freshly released music by Compact Space. Finally, we beg for votes for The Sleep, cause even though it’s an honor to be nominated, winning would be nice, too.

Show Notes

Shhhh. If you are quiet you can hear the pitter-patter of little zombie feet… It’s October! Todd Henry of Accidental Creative fame drops by and weaves a yarn of fear and terror, while the Smiths share stories of pod-people, trick-or-treat and aliens. Battlestar Galactica is still no longer on television, but Neil finds an out-of-this-world substitute. Finally, in Depeche Mode News we try to make some sense out of the band’s new video. PS – we can’t. With hair-raising tunes by Jonathan Coulton, Wax Tailor and The Wombats. Prepare to be thrilled and chilled! Or at the very least, slightly disconcerted.

Show Notes
This month we are hurting in the focus department. We debut our music video, get hip to the lingo on Twitter, and reminisce about Twin Peaks. Laura gives Enigma the business, Neil turns hypochondriac in a geriatric sort of way and Mari rides a Ferris Wheel – indoors! With emotive tunes by The Sleep, 46bliss, Venus Hum and Buddahead. Is it just me, or is this music making me sleepy?

Show Notes

Neil tries to honor the VJ’s of old, and we decide to boycott a holiday – cause some of them are just plain stupid. Our struggle with math pops up yet again, and we give some love to a new TV show. It ain’t Battlestar Galactica, but what is?  Mari shares the fruits of her Apple Camp experience. Fruits … get it? And we weigh in on some Depeche Mode documentaries as we prepare to see their Tour of the Universe. That’s right Martin Gore, we’re packing up our gothy boots and coming to see you! Show Notes
Explosive metaphors abound as we blast into July. It’s a summer movie spectacular as we discuss a grab bag of movies: Rebecca, S. Darko, Sunset Boulevard and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Laura coins the word “uncute-ify,” Mari brings the Garageband, and we recount the story of Laura’s trashy podcast debut. In Depeche Mode News we dig into the song “Fragile Tension.” And to close things out we lull you to sleep with the story of how we met… and lived happily ever after. With tracks by The Sleep, Pro Video Bandits, Venus Hum and Artemis.

It’s a summer school’s out special! For June we announce new free song downloads from The Sleep. Laura shares her chocolate waffle recipe, Neil celebrates Father’s Day with Star Trek, and we wonder how many TV shows with “Hunters” in the title are really necessary. It’s a landmark moment when we have our first disagreement regarding “Guys Neil Finds Attractive.” Finally, we announce the winners of our Depeche Mode prize packages. Hey listeners, you’re all winners in our eyes! Cool summery tracks by The Sleep, Hungry Lucy, Venus Hum and Bears of Winter.

Chocolate Waffles for Lurry Dean

1-½ c cake flour (sifted)
1 Tablespoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
4 Tablespoons butter, melted
½ cup chocolate syrup (plus extra for drizzling)
2 eggs, lightly beaten
1 cup sugar
¾ cup milk
½ teaspoon vanilla
vanilla ice cream

Sift together flour, baking powder and salt into a large bowl and set aside.

Melt butter in a medium size bowl. Add ½ cup chocolate syrup and mix until combined. Let cool.

In a large bowl, combine 2 eggs, sugar, milk and vanilla. Stir thoroughly.

Add in the chocolate mixture and stir until combined.

Add chocolate mixture to the dry ingredients. Stir just until smooth.

Heat waffle iron to a medium setting. Spray with cooking spray before each batch. These are very soft, and burn easily.

Texture of waffle will be like a soft brownie. Top with vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of chocolate syrup.

Show Notes
In May there’s a whole lotta time traveling going on!  Neil breaks down the various timelines in the world of Terminator and gives a peek into the Battlestar Galactica follow-up, Caprica. Laura shares some time travel fiction. Depeche Mode reaches into the past and uses vintage synths on their new album, Sounds of the Universe. Fast forward to the future where we premiere the long anticipated first single from Das Shadow.  And if that weren’t already enough, we pause in the present long enough to interview the editor of a beautiful new Depeche Mode book. Too bad in seven days this podcast will be so last week! With additional music by Neil Smith, Venus Hum and Otto Sharp.

Show Notes

This month there is a big blue shadow hanging over the show. Neil takes over writing the script, we share our song about Kurt Cobain and we remember the religious Easter candy of our youth. We also find time to tarnish the reputation of Arbor Day and spoil the heck out of the Battlestar Galactica series finale. Hey, it’s only 20 days until the official release of Depeche Mode’s album Sounds of the Universe. Squee! W00t! FTW! Show Notes
For March the Smiths become one with the universe. We sing the praises of pigs everywhere, including Battlestar Galactica’s Gaius Baltar. We have a Roman god, late night TV (complete with male enhancements) as well as a city in a state of undress. We buckle our seat belts and discuss Depeche Mode’s stunning new video for “Wrong.” With The Black Hole and a space age song from Mari, this episode is outta this world.
