From Depechemode.com
“Darrell Ives, who worked personal security for Depeche Mode since the early 1990s, very sadly passed away on Friday, February 16th, 2007.
As some fans will know, Darrell spearheaded a campaign with The Edwards Foundation during “Touring The Angel” to auction off rare Depeche Mode memorabilia to aid relief efforts in Africa.”
I have been touched by the many postings on the Depeche Mode message board about Darrell. It is amazing to me that a man who was the biggest obstacle between the fans and the band was so loved by those fans. There are some very sweet stories about fan’s interactions with him here. I am proud to be a part of such a caring and respectful bunch of fans. I am constantly reminded of the very cool community that exists surrounding the band and their music.
We are under a big freeze! After the rain early this week everything has a layer of ice. It is really beautiful, and rather trecherous! The fear of falling tree limbs is a real danger. The park is closed; I guess until it thaws and everything falls that is going to fall. Here are some photos.
We don’t really have any trees on our property, but the neighbor’s trees have bent over to the ground and we can’t park one of our cars until it thaws out enought to move the broken branches:
Here is a close up of the icyness:
It’s yet another good day for knitting. I am going to have so many scarves by the end of this season!
Well, as I expected, the Best Dance Recording Grammy went to Justin Timberlake. I will not spread any hate here; I wish him well. But we had a Grammy party last night in honor of Depeche Mode. We had fun watching the show and eating way too much food. Here are some of the hightlights.
Guests were greeted with a sign that made it clear who we were all rooting for:
Fridge Game
Dessert
And Finally…
We ate; we drank; we admired Imogen Heap’s outfit. All in all a good night, considering none of our favorites won. This is why I quit watching the Grammys a long time ago…
I couldn’t wait until tomorrow to do another post. This is probably the best interview I have ever seen. Brilliant interviewer, and brilliant responses. No I am not biased. Enjoy!
Please note that it is entirely possible that the lovely Martin Gore was slightly toasted…
Well, Mari got her wish – 5 inches of snow yesterday… and no school today.
To celebrate, I think this is as good a time as any to introduce The Smiths’ Fridge Game. You’ll see below how it relates. We have a set of plastic, magnetic fridge letters. But some are missing. We have everything but “D” “L” and “Y.” The challenge is to make a phrase or word of the day using those letters.
It’s Valentine’s Day; feeling all lovey-dovey, are you? We’ll see what we can do about that with our all-Ohio music show! This episode we wrack our brains to try to come up with some Valentine’s Day memories. Good ones, that is. We debut our first jingles, and during Depeche Mode News we lay out our Grammy picks, and discuss the merits of Imogen Heap and Trent Reznor . We respond to our listeners’ comments, and finally, it’s the premiere of the segment “ What’s the Best Show on Television? “
